Cognitive control as a gated cortical net
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present a cortical model of cognitive control based on attractor networks, correlational learning, and gating. Our model does not make use of production rules or local representations. It is capable of completing a demonstration task requiring adding to and examining working memory. The architecture used is easily generalizable to other tasks.

Differential Cortical Oscillatory Patterns in Amputees with and Without Phantom Limb Pain
Objective: Phantom limb pain (PLP) as neuropathic pain affects the life of amputees. It is believed an efficient PLP treatment should consider the underlying neurological mechanisms. Hereby, we investigated brain activity in PLP’s and relations to the psychological and cognitive dimension of chronic pain. We investigate differences in resting brain activities between amputees with and without p...
متن کاملAssessment of the integrated role of myocardium perfusion gated SPECT study in patient with parathyroid adenoma by 99mTc-sestamibi
Introduction: The purpose of this study is to assess the integrated role of scintigraphy by Tc99m MIBI in diagnosis of parathyroid adenoma and its impacts on the myocardium, and to evaluate whether myocardium perfusion gated SPECT study could be a complementary routine workup for patient with positive parathyroid adenoma on Tc99m MIBI parathyroid scan. Methods: Rest myocardium perfusion gated ...
متن کاملAtomoxetine facilitates attentional set shifting in adolescent rats
Adolescent rats show immaturities in executive function and are less able than adult rats to learn reinforcement reversals and shift attentional set. These two forms of executive function rely on the functional integrity of the orbitofrontal and prelimbic cortices respectively. Drugs used to treat attention deficit disorder, such as atomoxetine, that increase cortical catecholamine levels impro...
متن کاملTheta oscillations in human cortex during a working-memory task: evidence for local generators.
Cortical theta appears important in sensory processing and memory. Intracanial electrode recordings provide a high spatial resolution method for studying such oscillations during cognitive tasks. Recent work revealed sites at which oscillations in the theta range (4-12 Hz) could be gated by a working-memory task: theta power was increased at task onset and continued until task offset. Using a l...
متن کاملControl of Sodium and Potassium Transport in the Cortical Collecting Duct of the Rat
Several factors interact to maintain precise control of electrolyte transport in the mammalian cortical collecting duct. We have studied the effects of deoxycorticosterone, arginine vasopressin, and bradykinin on net transepithelial sodium and potassium transport in isolated, perfused rat cortical collecting ducts. Chronic administration of deoxycorticosterone to rats increased both sodium abso...
